Introduction

I don't expect anyone to be reading this, and so it is more of an exercise for me. When I write every day, or every other day, I find that my writing is better and easier. As such, most of these posts will probably be pretty boring. Oh well!

About the title: I watched Hot Fuzz today, and that line has been going through my head since that scene. I can't think of a better name, and besides, it's funny.

So I'll be going to the University of Kansas in the fall to study biomedical engineering. I haven't been thinking about it too much, but when I do, I feel pretty good. It will be most exciting to meet new people and learn new things, and, of course, to finally get out of Papillion. I feel fairly confident with my choice of majors, and seeing as how it is a big field, I'm not worried about being able to find something I enjoy. Also, new ladies. The selection here has dwindled to a painfully low number. Are my standards too high? I normally don't think so, but it is something that has been on my mind lately. I mean, sure, I had one girl who is stunningly gorgeous, but was it just a fluke? Can I not hope to find another lady as amazing as her, both in personality and appearance? I suppose I'll find out one of these days.

I just finished reading The Diamond Age, or A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer. I enjoyed it, for the most part, but the climax came too fast, and it seemed that the plot was built on some almost unbelievable connections. Neal Stephenson, the author, seemed to take too much time building the world and the people, and not enough advancing the plot, which would have been fine for something along the lines of a character study, but The Diamond Age is surely not that. To counter this unsatisfactory experience, I have started reading volume one of the Otherland series, otherwise known as City of Golden Shadow. I've read it before, and I began to read volume two, but I stopped for some reason or another. They are, shall we say, healthy-sized novels, and the story is so in-depth and intense that it is easy to lose one's way.

Hopefully I will stay with this, and this won't be my only post.
